Announements / Main Website Down Due To DNS Issue
« Last post by Gordinator on 2024-February-17, 04:07:17 pm »
Unfortunately, the main website (https://gordinator.org) is down thanks to a Cloudflare issue:

https://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/gordinator.org

This will be resolved as soon as I work out what is wrong.

ReHack / Stuck? Spoiler-Free Tips
« Last post by Gordinator on 2024-February-14, 11:59:50 pm »
NOTE: All URL's are in-game URL's.

What do I do now?
  • Finish all the tutorial missions.
  • Find a mission (connect to contracts.rehack.org for main-line missions).

I can't finish a mission
  • Read the instructions again. You may have missed something.

I can't hack this node!
  • Run an nmap on it. It will tell you what you need to do to hack it.
  • Make sure enough ports are open to run porthack.
  • If there are more open ports required than ports in the machine, porthack can't help you. In that case, you need to find the admin password somewhere, be it a mail server or otherwise.
  • You may need to purchase additional programs from the store. (See the below list for ports and their tools).
  • If you're unsure of what you're dealing with, nodecheck can tell you what type of node a node is.

I can't open this port!
Here's a list of ports and what program opens them:
  • Port 1: lancrack
  • Port 21: ftpkill
  • Port 22: sshkill
  • Port 25: mailoverflow
  • Port 80: webworm
  • Port 1433: sqldump
  • Port 6881: torrentpwn
Most of these need to be purchased from the Store.

I still need help!
  • Try the reHack wiki (wiki.rehack.org); it will tell you how to hack.

General Discussion / How To Become a Moderator
« Last post by Gordinator on 2024-February-14, 03:51:01 pm »
Some people may want to become mods on the Gordinator forums, and if so, this post is for you!

Types of Moderators
There are two types of moderators: Moderators and Global Moderators. Global Moderators (GM's) moderate the entire forum, and regular moderators (mods) moderate a specific board. To become a global moderator, you need to first become a moderator, so kill all hopes of becoming a GM from the get-go right now.

Method One: Get Invited
Sometimes, an administrator will ask you if you want to become a mod. You cannot ask first, or you'll get ignored.

Method Two: Openings
Sometimes, a moderator opening may be announced in the Announcements channel. It will contain instructions for how to apply as a moderator. However, do note that you will need to be at least a Full Member (100 posts) in order to apply, and ideally a Sr. Member (250 posts) or higher.

Pitfalls
If you've received a punishment for rule-breaking in the last 90 days, you cannot become a moderator.
If you beg to become moderator, you will be punished. See the above sentence.
